Botanical Citation Templates for Wikipedia

Hello fellow editors,

My name is Steve Fitzgerald, and my user name on Wikipedia is Junglenut . I've had a user account on Wikipedia since 2009, although I've only become a regularly-active editor since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

My work on Wikipedia is mainly focused on one topic i.e. the rainforest flora of tropical Queensland, Australia, and when I was creating citations I realised that I was using many of the same sources for my articles with only minor differences. So I decided to create some simple-to-use templates to make my life easier, and that's what these pages are about. Initially I had the system running on my personal computer for my own use, but in May 2021 I decided to put them on the web so others could benefit from them.

So, if your interest is plant articles, some of these tools will be of assistance. If you work on Australian plants, many of these tools will be handy. And if you work on tropical Queensland rainforest plants, all of them will help! Use the menu at the top of this page to start creating your citations.

You may also be interested in the browser extensions for Firefox that I've created to make life easier for Wikipedia editors. These all add extra search items in the context menu when you right-click on highlighted text in any webpage, allowing you to quickly search for the selected text on Wikipedia, Commons, Wikidata or Wiktionary. You can find more info here .

If you have any comments or suggestions, let me know on my Wikipedia talk page .

Happy editing!
Steve
